New Websites, One Platform: A Manufacturing Rebuild for Fathom and ICOMold

What impressed us most was that they gave us extra time and attention. The experience felt individualized and personal. We’ve seen higher traffic to our website as a result, and frankly, there’s nothing they could improve on.Sarah Bain, Director of Marketing, Fathom Manufacturing

Before & After
A Website That Undersold a High-Tech Manufacturer
Fathom Manufacturing had grown into a high-tech contract manufacturer, but its website still looked like a traditional parts supplier. This didn’t help the sales team, since it was hard to prove beyond words that Fathom was selling solutions backed by experienced staff and white-glove service.
Additionally, search visibility was weak. Prospects searching for contract manufacturing by region or capability couldn't find Fathom, and once they arrived, they struggled to find relevant information. Aerospace engineers couldn't identify matching capabilities, and medical device startups had to dig for turnaround times. In this scenario, it was clear that the old site no longer reflected the business Fathom had become.
Fathom also needed a second website for its sister company, ICOMold. Both sites required identical functionality but distinct branding and content, and maintaining two fully separate codebases would have doubled the work for every future update, testing cycle, and redesign.
Understanding the Buyer, Then Building for Them
We started with the most important question: who is visiting this website, and what are they trying to do? Through extensive research and analysis, we pinpointed three key target groups: design engineers assessing creative possibilities, manufacturing engineers reviewing specific capabilities, and procurement specialists evaluating timelines and reliability. Fathom occupied a middle ground, offering the scale of traditional manufacturers like Jabil and Flex combined with the responsiveness of an online marketplace like Xometry and Fictiv.
Instead of building and managing separate repositories for Fathom and ICOMold, we created a unified WordPress architecture using Roots/Bedrock. This allowed both sites to run on a single deployment pipeline while maintaining distinct visual branding and tailored content for each company. Some pages use structured templates, while others use flexible, reorderable components built to match the branding but carry unique text and images.
Fathom also needed robust, custom content-authoring capabilities that gave its team real flexibility to manage the site. We worked closely with Fathom's team to understand the marketing strategies they wanted to run and built the tools to support them, a level of technical cooperation that translated directly into stronger digital marketing capabilities than the old site allowed.
We rebuilt the site architecture from scratch with keyword research, giving each of Fathom's 25-plus capabilities its own dedicated page. The homepage works as a hub, with a mega-menu that helps visitors find the exact service they need. Industry pages open with real pain points before showing the full range of what's possible, and capability pages show which industries use them most.
Lead generation was built in throughout, including an RFQ form built to meet ITAR compliance requirements. Sensitive files never touch the web server; they're routed directly to Box.com's ITAR-compliant environment via a secure connection, then linked back to the original RFQ submission through automated workflows connected to Fathom's ERP. For a manufacturer whose clients often work with ITAR-regulated materials, that level of protection matters as much as the quote itself. Beyond that, multiple CTAs matched visitor intent, "Request a Consultation" for explorers and "Request a Quote" for decision-makers, with lightweight, mobile-friendly forms feeding directly into Fathom's CRM.
A filterable case studies section with customer testimonials and real product photos reinforced Fathom's real differentiator: its people.
On the technical side, we optimized load times, built a strong mobile experience, and implemented structured URLs and schema markup.
A More Informed Conversation from the First Visit
Fathom launched its new site in January 2026, and ICOMold followed in March, going live on the same shared architecture without issues. Two brands now run on one platform, with a single deployment pipeline instead of two separate systems for building, testing, and maintaining.
Instead of simply maximizing new-visitor volume, Fathom aimed to deepen relationships with existing accounts and win the right new business. With the new website, they now have the right foundation to achieve this, and prospects arrive at conversations already informed, with specific knowledge of capabilities and use cases, so the conversation doesn’t have to start from zero.
